European regulations are too damn high!

This isn't a new complaint by America to Europe, especially considering European taste would be considered "woke", or "liberal". It clearly depends on industry/ profession. For example, American economics academia has considerably more stringent requirements, so tomayto-tomahto. The tit-for-tat bickering is quite unbecoming, but we're all past that in this day and age.
The US is again, asking Europe to lower their food safety standards. This is particularly interesting, considering the Trump administration's health secretary started off with wanting to remove food dyes, and dissuaded the production/ consumption of processed food. As is widely known, European health practices tend to be based on preventive approaches, while the US is the opposite. On average, individuals in e.g. the UK don't face chronic illnesses at the same rate as the US; the chronic illnesses in question are those which diet has an impact. Therefore, given the debate about healthcare (insurance, cost of treatment, over dependence on drugs etc.), why would Europe relax their regulations on food safety?
It might have been quite a while since I last spent some time in Europe, but as I have said in one of my previous posts (Europe's alleged obsolescence) old habits die hard, especially if they are habits which are beneficial for your wellbeing and budget. I am not claiming I am a European and know what they think and feel, but I have a gut feeling that they won't be lowering their food safety regulations at the behest of the United States, while increasing health risks for their population. After all, didn't Trump brag that he got Europe to increase their drug prices?
