Archaic cultural/ religious practices

With all of the bombing and fighting that's happening around the world, particularly between people of contradicting cultural and religious practices, it is sad that I feel the need to comment on the issue.

It is very evident, and now widely known which populations, cultures and religions are fighting global progress and modernity, particularly when it comes to women. Men desperately wanting to control women, especially those which they desire over others, is, to put it simply, brain rot.

Historically, before women's liberation in western cultures, the treatment was the same: those considered disreputable, posed a challenge to the existing patriarchy, that were even a competitor to other women that were heavily favoured by men, were hidden away. There are cases of wives which fell out of favour, or done providing their use to their husbands, or were considered too combative or argumentative (the catch all term is hysteria), that were then sent off to an asylum to live out the rest of her days. It wasn't only the husbands, but also the brothers, fathers and uncles who were reported to have done the same; probably the matriarchs supported such decisions.

The demonisation of allegedly hysterical and inconvenient women hasn't stopped. While western societies have moved on from their archaic and stringent controls over women (although the cunning and intrigue still exists), lots of societies across the world haven't. The oppression is common and obvious. The claim over women is also a territorial one in various ways. By limiting what women are allowed to do and pursue, you are sending a message to the world that they follow the patterns of a specific group.

But it is clear: forcing financial dependence on a family member is control. Nothing is more unattractive than a husband trying to claim that their wife/ potential wife not having to work is a flex and a benefit for her, because everyone knows, that when a husband says their significant other doesn't have to work, they fully expect obedience and housework in exchange. 3 words: male loneliness epidemic.

When it comes to the necessities for the basic quality of life, I don't take issue with access. What's the overall benefit to restricting access? As I mentioned in a previous post ( Gentrification ),

Gentrification

As the population of towns and cities expand, people need to find new areas to move into and gentrification is inevitable. Gentrification is beneficial because it means revitalisation of areas which w
